About SafetyBeltSafe U.S.A.

SafetyBeltSafe U.S.A. is the national, non-profit organization dedicated solely to child passenger safety. Our mission is to help reduce the number of serious and fatal traffic injuries suffered by children by promoting the correct, consistent use of safety seats and safety belts. Founded in 1980, SafetyBeltSafe U.S.A. is nationally recognized for program excellence, training, and up-to-date technical materials. We provide consultation to advocates, parents, business leaders, the media, and professionals working in the fields of health care, traffic safety, social service, and education. SafetyBeltSafe U.S.A. is known for its history of technical excellence; for recognizing the needs of children and families; for being inclusive in our outlook; and for teaching those who can reach into every community.

We have received awards reflecting our national impact over the years. From the 1983 Award for Public Service from National Highway Traffic Safety Administration given to our Executive Director to the most recent one, her inclusion in the initial Hall of Fame devised by the Manufacturers’ Alliance for Child Passenger Safety in 2017, we have been honored by the recognition.

SafetyBeltSafe U.S.A. continues to make a difference benefitting children everywhere by changing and preserving federal regulations, through petition, through Congress and through service on a federal Blue Ribbon Committee; working to craft and improve state legislation and offering statewide services to help advocates in California through our hands-on programs, such as our Educator Workshops and Speakers’ Bureau, some of which have been presented throughout the United States; and our input at national and state conferences since 1983.

A critical national service we manage is the tether anchor retrofit program for Toyota/Lexus to enable families with older vehicles to have them retrofitted without paying the typical charges from dealers but receiving the service underwritten by Toyota/Lexus. The program, started in 2008, serves customers in every state but Hawaii.

SafetyBeltSafe U.S.A. is proudly focused on technical results so we are not swayed by donations or other support to tout a particular product or company.
